Canary Wharf FLORIST
Canary Wharf is an opulent community full of suited workers during the week. This is because Canary Wharf is the financial capital of London. It is also part of the London Docklands which is on the eastern edge of London City.
There is so much more to this area than just the high-rise offices standing in the way of the sun. When you visit the area, you will discover its history as well as shopping and leisure options. Read on to see what you can find in this interesting community.
The first building constructed in the area is One Canada Square. It stands 235m tall and it was built during redevelopment.
Its docks are still operating today. Thousands of ships still pass through it each month. On the North Dock is the Museum of London which covers the history of the Docklands area.
As for travelling, it is easy to get around Canary Wharf as it has an international airport. London City Airport serves over thirty destinations.
If you love shopping, you will surely enjoy visiting the three shopping malls in the area. These are Canada Place, Cabot Place, and Jubilee Place. These three malls comprise the Canary Wharf Shopping Centre. The malls feature a mix of high-end stores that cater to the budget of those who work in the area. But if you have a modest budget, you can opt for the high street stores in the area.
You can catch the latest flicks at Crossrail Place which is home to Canary Wharf Everyman Cinema. It is a boutique-style cinema showing a mixture of newly-released and classic films. It gives you a posh and comfortable way of watching your favourite films on the big screen. There is also Cineworld West India Quay which features newer releases. This cinema is only a few minutes away from the Museum of London Docklands.
As for events, Canary Wharf features outdoor festivities which are mostly free. There is an ice skating rink in winter and open air concerts, food markets and vintage fairs in the summer. There is also the Canary Wharf Summer Screen where you can catch the live action of the Wimbledon, World Cup or other notable televised events.
Canary Wharf is also home to one of the UK’s largest collections of public art. It hosts more than a hundred art events every year and there are more than 60 works of art by 45 artists and designers on public display.
Besides these events, you can spend time outdoors with the Canary Wharf’s green gardens. Jubilee Park is perched atop Canary Wharf station. There is also Canada Square Park which is a small patch of green enclosed by roads and buildings. The Crossrail Place Roof Garden, which is part of the Canary Wharf Crossrail station, is a free public indoor oasis. In here, plants are arranged according to the hemisphere they are from.
Other than these places, there is also one sanctuary you must visit. This floral sanctuary in Canary Wharf will have you appreciate the beauty of flowers. This place is none other than the Canary Wharf flower shop, London City Florist.
